How To Film A Home Tour Today

#home tour
What's the idea?

A "home tour" where you reveal one surprising space decision (not the whole house) and then show how to copy it on any budget.

What's surprising or interesting?

Most home tours are just walking and pointing; yours is a reveal + explanation: "why this works" and "what I’d do if I started over." The twist is you’re not flexing a house—you’re proving a design choice.

What can be shown on camera?

Before/after angles from the doorway, one continuous walkthrough shot, close-ups of 3 details (lighting, storage, texture), a quick measurement shot, and a simple sketch/overlay of the layout.

What's the payoff by the end?

Viewer steals 3 specific ideas from your "home tour" and knows exactly what to copy in their own place.

AUDIT

1) Define the single hero reveal for your home tour: the most "I can’t believe this exists here" spot (tiny garden/patio, hidden pantry, awkward nook turned useful, rental-friendly wall, etc.).

2) List 3 proof details you can show close-up that make it feel real (cost, size/measurements, where you bought it, what problem it solved).

3) Identify the viewer promise in one line: what they can copy in 30 minutes / $50 / one weekend (pick one constraint).

FIX

3-step checklist to build the video today:

1) Open with the reveal, not the entrance.

- Stand at the doorway of the hero spot. Say the hook, then show the wide shot.

2) Explain the "why" with 3 details.

- For each detail: show it, say the reason, and give a copy step (product, placement, or DIY).

3) End with a stealable mini-plan.

- Recap the 3 ideas as a checklist the viewer can screenshot.

Hook template (say it on camera):

"This is my home tour, but I’m only showing the one spot everyone asks about—because it solves \\[problem\\] with \\[simple decision\\]."

TEST

Thumbnail test idea (A/B):

A) You pointing at the hero spot + 3-word label: "HOME TOUR SECRET"

B) Clean wide shot of the hero spot + 3-word label: "HOW THIS WORKS"

Filming plan (6–8 min YouTube or 45–60s Short):

- Film a 5-second wide reveal first.

- Capture 3 close-ups (one per detail) with your hand entering frame.

- Record one continuous walkthrough from doorway to hero spot.

- Add a quick on-screen checklist at the end: "Steal these 3".

- Title packaging to try: "Home Tour: The One Spot That Changed Everything"
